cute and cozy but noisy trains
The room felt super clean and gave me a sense of safety. It was ideally located for exploring both Beverly Shores and Michigan City. The vibe was charming, making it a delightful spot for a quick getaway. I also appreciated how the contactless check-in made everything smooth!
The trains were quite distracting, especially being so close to the motel.

al & sally's motel is a gem! it's so charming and kept in pristine condition. just a short drive away from the beautiful lake michigan beaches and the indiana shores national park. i loved the contactless check-in experience, and deana provided amazing service. it's only a quick 3-minute drive from the train station, making it easy to escape to chicago without any hassle.

The unstaffed office left me feeling a bit disconnected, as reaching out for help required texting, and responses took longer than expected. Trains running nearby can be a nuisance, and the absence of blinds in the room resulted in an early morning wake-up call as sunlight flooded in. Additionally, the parking lot and the back of the property appear neglected, though the room itself seemed adequately cleaned aside from the discolored bathroom grout and caulk.

Charming retro bathroom with unique character.
Hearing neighbors was a distraction. earplugs recommended.

The location is prime, just 8 minutes from the beach! Plus, the modern vibe with cute touches really sets the mood for a cozy stay.
The trains were a buzzkill, running right behind the motel. And not having blinds was a major wake-up call when that sunshine hit.

Decent Stay, Room for Improvement
We stayed for two nights in a Deluxe Queen Room with Two Queen Beds. While the location is great, we encountered plumbing issues and uncomfortable beds. The overpriced snacks didn’t enhance our experience. I suggest more value-centric amenities and better room conditions for future guests.

Our stay was fantastic! The spacious rooms were perfect for our large family and our dogs, and the easy check-in made everything smooth. We loved how close it was to the Indiana Dunes National Park, making it a fun and fresh lodging choice.
My children wanted a more secure area for cords and outlets away from their reach. With little ones, it's important to ensure safety in the room.
